I've just been inspired to start doing a thread like this whenever I have a flash of inspiration enabling me to give a computer tip.

Today's tip is this........
When you're typing an e-mail in Mozilla Thunderbird (which is way better than Outlook Express), and you need to add a special symbol or character such as or or or perhaps even or ...... or perhaps you're writing in a foreign language and need to write special accented versions of letters such as: or or or perhaps even ę you could mess on trying to find the Windows Character Map in the start menu, unless you know the keystroke combo's extremely well, e.g. Alt + 0162 = (at least on my computer) or Alt + 0188 =

In Mozilla Thunderbird (at least on version 2.0.0.14 currently running on my PC), you've got another, much quicker option.
In the menu at the top of the window you're typing the e-mail into, click:
Insert > Characters & Symbols
And it brings up a menu from which you can insert the required characters & Symbols............ clever, eh?
